Color, Creativity and Cash Prizes: The Decorated Boat Parade is Back!

Boothbay Harbor is gearing up for one of the most colorful celebrations on the water, and this year’s Windjammer Days Decorated Boat Parade is shaping up to be the most exciting yet. After last year’s successful transformation from the traditional Lighted Boat Parade into a vibrant early‑evening spectacle, we are stepping it up to bring even more boats into the fun.

What began as a creative reimagining has quickly become a signature event. By shifting the parade to 7:00 PM, boaters can showcase their designs in the warm glow of early evening, where every detail from hand‑painted themes to elaborate décor can be fully appreciated. The earlier start also makes participation easier and safer, eliminating the challenges of navigating and cleaning up in the dark. The result? A bigger and brighter celebration for the entire harbor community.

This year, the excitement grows with significantly increased prizes designed to reward imagination, craftsmanship, and community spirit:

🏆 First Place: $500
🥈 Second Place: $300
🥉 Third Place: $200

And that’s not all, every participating boat will receive a $100 fuel card as a thank‑you for joining the parade and filling the harbor with creativity and joy.

The parade’s new format also brings back one of last year’s favorite additions: the lively watch party and awards celebration at Mine Oyster, where spectators and participants come together for a birds eye view of the parade, cheer on the winners, sip waterfront beverages, and keep the festivities going long after the last boat docks.
